After months of anticipation and intense preparation, the world’s best off-road teams have gathered in Geoagiu-Bai, ready to face six grueling days of competition that will push their skills, endurance, and determination to the limit.
The Rock Trophy is not just a race—it’s a true test of human and mechanical resilience, where competitors battle through unforgiving terrain, brutal rock sections, and high-speed forest trails. Designed to bring a new level of competition to Europe’s off-road racing scene, the event blends the traditions of classic trophy races with innovative formats, creating a challenge unlike any other.
Racers from across Europe, including off-road legends Hardo Mere, and Franck Daurelle, co-driven by Françoise Hollender, are ready to take on the Ultimate Off-Road Challenge. Each team will rely on precision driving, expert navigation, and flawless teamwork to conquer Romania’s unpredictable landscapes.
The Competition Begins
Excitement is in the air as the competition officially gets underway. Following his visit to the Rock Arena, the Mayor of Geoagiu Băi, Ovidiu Vlad, met with event organizer Alexander Kovatchev wishing everyone a successful race and an unforgettable edition of The Rock Trophy.
The morning is dedicated to the Administrative Check & Scrutineering, where vehicles and teams undergo final inspections to ensure compliance with regulations. This is followed by the crucial Driver’s Briefing, where participants receive last-minute instructions and strategies, and the IRIS System Training, ensuring that all teams are prepared for real-time race tracking.
As the afternoon unfolds, the adrenaline surges: The technical Prologue Stage kicks off in the Rock Arena a breathtaking granite quarry. This unforgiving terrain, with its jagged rock formations and uneven ground, sets the stage for a fierce battle. Each class will fight to secure the best possible starting position for the days ahead. Precision, strategy, and sheer determination will be key to gaining an early advantage.

– Monday, April 7 – Costesti:
The first full racing day takes competitors into the rugged landscapes of Costesti area, known for its extreme off-road potential. Rocky river crossings, deep ravines, and challenging climbs will push drivers and co-drivers to their limits.
– Tuesday, April 8 – Geoagiu Bai:
A mix of high-speed sections and technical obstacles awaits, with breathtaking hilltop views rewarding those who stay on course. Navigation will be critical—one wrong turn could cost valuable time.
– Wednesday, April 9 – Double Challenge:
Circle Race in Poienile Beriului: A thrilling multi-lap competition where raw power meets precision driving. Fans will witness intense side-by-side battles, with food stalls and facilities ensuring a great experience for all spectators.
Night Stage in Geoagiu-Bai:
A race against darkness where visibility is limited, and instinct takes over. Only the most focused and adaptable will make it through unscathed.
– Thursday, April 10 – Back to Costesti:
Another brutal test in Costesti’s unforgiving terrain, where extreme obstacles demand expert winching, strategic driving, and seamless teamwork.
Friday, April 11 – The Final Push:
– A brand-new route for the last stage brings fresh challenges. Precision navigation will be key, with teams balancing speed and accuracy in the race to the finish line.
Legend Route – A Unique Challenge
Alongside the Extreme track, the Legend Route offers a distinctive challenge for participants with production-based, road-legal off-road vehicles.

With a central bivouac in Geoagiu-Bai, a renowned spa resort in Hunedoara County, competitors and teams can enjoy premium facilities, including hotel accommodations next to the service park. Competition Classes
The event features multiple classes to ensure fair competition across different vehicle types:
